Who we are

The Association of Wheelchair Users of Namibia (AWCU) is a non-profit organisation established in January 2016. We are led by and for persons with disabilities, working to ensure that every wheelchair user in Namibia can live with dignity, autonomy, and full participation in society.

AWCU is formally recognised as an Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and is a proud affiliate of the National Federation of People with Disabilities in Namibia (NFPDN).

We are legally registered as a Company Not for Gain under the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) of Namibia.
